Product Description
Named after Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt, President of the USA, the teddy bear has become everyone's favourite nursery toy since it first appeared in the shops in 1902. Early bears looked as realistic as possible, with long, shaved muzzles, large feet and humped backs, and Albert and Frederick are perfect examples of this. By the sixties and seventies the teddy had developed into a mass-produced soft toy, and Carnaby and Rowan show just how appealing they could be. Today, individual bears are popular once more and the Gibbs complete their collection with a trio of teddy miniatures, each fully jointed. This collection offers a fascinating insight into the changing fashions of teddy bear production in the twentieth century. A 'teddy bear timeline' places each design in its historical context, and the teddy trivia that is scattered throughout is sure to delight all arctophiles. All techniques are explained with detailed step-by-step photographs.
